Skip Sheffield, a member of the staff of the Boca Raton News for more than 30 years,
continued to be honored for his distinguished writing career by winning first place in the
"Criticism" category in Division C of the Florida Society of Newspaper Editor's 2003
competition.
This award marks the fourth time that Sheffield has earned first place in the "Criticism"
Category since 1992. He also garnered a second place award in 1994.
In 2002, Sheffield won a first place in the "Criticism" category from the Florida Press
Club.
Division C covers newspapers with circulation less than 40,000.
In addition to Sheffield's first-place award, the News' Robert Cohn and Ted Jackson
earned third place honors in separate categories. Cohn was honored in the "Sports"
category and Jackson in the "Investigative" category.
Sheffield covers the entertainment beat in the South Florida region like no other and is
responsible for ensuring the Boca Raton News' Weekend section is top notch.
